MultiPurpose Sampler MPS for GC and GCMS

The MPS is a multifunctional autosampler and sample preparation robot for GC and GC/MS. Gerstel modifies standard CombiPAL CTC components in many ways, providing modern analytical laboratories high throughput, high performance and unparalleled flexibility.



Static Headspace:
HS syringe is modified to ensure minimum carry over and replaceable needle ensures minimal cost of operation.




Autosampler (Liquid + Static HS):
Universal Syringe Holder for Liquid Autosampler can accommodate liquid syringes from 1.2 uL upto 250 uL.




Automated Dynamic Headspace: 
The DHS station efficiently extracts and concentrates VOCs from liquid or solid samples placed in standard Headspace vials. The sample is thermostated and agitated while the headspace is purged with a controlled flow of inert gas, providing controlled and efficient extraction conditions. Sample temperatures can be selected from 10 °C to 200 °C. The DHS station additionally holds a replaceable adsorbent- or sorbent filled tube used for analyte concentration.

The temperature of the adsorbent tube during the DHS process can be varied from 20 °C to 70 °C for optimal trapping of the analytes in question.Following analyte concentration, the tube is automatically transferred to the TDU for Thermal Desorption and analyte transfer to the GC. Tubes are fitted with individual adapters enabling both automated movement and leak-free sealing during the Dynamic Headspace and Thermal Desorption steps and during storage in the autosampler tray.

Automated Liner Exchange ALEX:
ALEX technology automates the task of replacing liners in the Gerstel Cooled Injection Ssytem (CIS), a useful automation where matrix residue from sample contaminate GC linear and needs frequent replacement. Specially designed trays on MPS-2 rail can hold up to 14 or up to 98 CIS 4 liners in individually sealed, contamination-free storage compartments.

Automated TDU-Liner Exchange ATEX
Direct Thermal Extraction in disposable micro-vial inserts
The ATEX option enables the introduction of liquid samples directly into micro-vial inserts used for thermal Desorption / Thermal Extraction in the TDU. Extracted analytes are refocused and concentrated in a Cooled Injection System (CIS) inlet prior to introduction to the GC/MS system.

The ATEX micro-vials can be used for liquid or solid samples. Up to 196 samples can be processed automatically for determination of VOC / SVOC in heavy or involatile matrices. Following the analysis, the sample cup with the remaining high-boiling or solid residue is automatically removed.
ATEX helps to ensure maximum uptime and best possible analysis results by keeping involatile or complex matrix material out of the GC/MS system..

Solid Phase Micro Extraction (SPME) is a widely used technique for extraction and concentration of VOCs and SVOCs combined with GC/MS. SPME is especially useful in the food, flavor and beverage industries and for environmental monitoring.

GERSTEL is a leading provider of SPME automation. Gerstel systems are optimized for performance and throughput in every step of the SPME process. Up to 128 samples placed in standard Headspace vials can be analyzed in one batch.

The MPS is easily and conveniently controlled from the GERSTEL MAESTRO Software - stand-alone or integrated with the Agilent Technologies ChemStation.
